🧳 Why Visit Armenia?

Tourism in Armenia has been a key sector to the Armenian economy since the 1990s when tourist numbers exceeded half a million people visiting the country every year (mostly ethnic Armenians from the Diaspora). The Armenian Ministry of Economy reports that most international tourists come from Russia, EU states, the United States and Iran.^[1] Though relatively small in size, Armenia has four UNESCO world heritage sites.

Despite internal and external problems, the number of incoming tourists has been continually increasing since 2007. 2019 saw a record high of over 1.9 million inbound tourists. Most tourists focus their trip in Yerevan, the capital, where the majority of travel agencies, attractions and hotels are located.

Outdoor activities, sightseeing and nature tourism seem to be the primary attractions. Tsaghkadzor, Jermuk, Dilijan are known as mountainous resorts, which are outside of the capital. Tourists stay at the hotels of those towns in order to engage in extended trips over all Armenia without returning to Yerevan every day. The classical sightseeing trips to Armenia are popular not only among tourists, but also with the local population. Day 01 :

Arrival City Tour (Victory Park- Cascade Complex- Blue Mosque- Opera House- North Avenue)

After the breakfast at the hotel start city tour starts from the Victory Park, where a picturesque view of capital Yerevan opens. After walk through the Cascade Complex the building that now hosts the Gafesjian center for the arts, which houses one of the best contemporary art collections in the Eastern Hemisphere. Then head to Blue Mosque dating back to the 18th century. Afterwards, walk to Opera House which is located at the heart of the capital Yerevan and North Avenue to reach Republic square the central city square of Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan.

Day 02 :

Yerevan – Arch of Charents – Geghard Monastery - Garni Temple – Yerevan

After breakfast at the hotel start the tour and have a first stop near the Arch of Charents from where, the beautiful panoramic view of Ararat valley and Mount Ararat opens. After, continue to Geghard Monastery, dating back as far as 4th century AD, which reached its glory in 13th century. Geghard is one of the jewels of Armenian medieval architecture and is a UNESCO world heritage site. The monastery of Geghard contains several churches and tombs, most of them cut into the solid rock, which illustrate the very peak of Armenian medieval craftsmanship. Later head to Garni Temple the true and unique masterpiece of Hellenistic architecture in Armenia, Garni is a pagan temple of the Sun God Mihra. It is one of the most ancient landmarks in Kotayk and whole Armenia, which has survived since pagan period.
Fortress of Garni was also the summer residence of Armenian kings. Garni fortress dates to 1st century BC, while the temple was built in 77AD. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan. Optional Jeeping can be organized. In the evening, return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan.

Day 03 :

Yerevan –Amberd-Alphabet Alley -Yerevan

After the breakfast at the hotel have a trip to Aragatsotn region. We will drive towards Amberd complex, comprised of medieval fortress and a church located in a quiet area on the southern slopes of the Mount Aragats. Amberd is at 2300 meters above the sea level; this explains its name, which means ‘fortress in the clouds’. Next stop is Alphabet Alley, where you will learn about Armenian language and can try to find your initials in stone carved letters. In the evening, return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan.

Day 04 :

Yerevan-Tsaghkadzor-Lake Sevan-Yerevan

After the breakfast at the hotel visit Kecharis Monastery, founded in the XI century by Armenian Pahlavuni princes. The next stop will be at Tsaghkadzor Ropeway to enjoy the view of mountainous Armenia. You can also take optional activities such as Zip line (optional*). Then drive to see Lake Sevan. It is the largest lake in the Caucasus and one of the largest freshwater high-altitude lakes in the world. Sevan is called the pearl of Armenia. In the evening, return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan.

Day 05 :

Yerevan –Echmiadzin-Machanents – Zvartnots Cathedral- Yerevan

After the breakfast at the hotel have a trip to to Echmiadzin. First you will visit the Holy Seat of Echmiadzin, the most important Armenian church, which has been founded in 303 AD. Later spend some quality time at Machanents touristic center, where you will have a chance to learn more about Armenian history and culture. If desired, you have a master class of Doll making, lavash baking and ceramics. After head to Zvartnots to visit the ruins of one of the largest medieval temples in Armenia. Return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan.

Day 06 :

Yerevan – Gyumri- Black Fortress –Yerevan

After the breakfast at the hotel, drive to Gyumri - the second largest city in Armenia and one of the main cultural centers of the Republic. Being one of the most ancient settlements in Armenia with the history of 3000 years, Gyumri is a significant location to visit and admire. Walking along the streets, you will pass by numerous old buildings and feel the spirit of 19th century architecture. Later head to Black Fortress. Enjoy your free day in Gyumri. In the evening, return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan.

Day 07 :

Transfer to the airport

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out from the hotel. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
